Sheffield Wednesday receive injury boost

Sheffield Wednesday have received a boost after boss Carlos Carvahal told the club’s official website that Michael Turner and Barry Bannan will return to training this week.

Bannan has been mightily impressive this season, picking up Wednesday’s player of the month award for October.

He missed Saturday’s 3-1 victory over Huddersfield Town at Hillsborough with a knee injury which he picked up at Charlton, although he is now back into training with the squad.

Meanwhile, centre back Turner, on loan from Norwich, has not featured for The Owls since their 1-1 draw with league leaders Hull last month.

Carvahal said: “Everything is ok, we will recover some players and we believe that Bannan and Turner will be back to the training this week.

“We have recovered other players also, Modou Sougou was back on the bench on Saturday and Alex Lopez will be back this week too.”

The news comes at an important time for Wednesday, who have a busy Christmas period coming up.

They have been impressive in the Championship so far this campaign and have lost only once in their past 11 games.

They currently lie in 8th place, after 17 games.
