Coventry loan signings in contention for Gillingham clash

Ben Turner and Gael Bigirimana are both in contention to play against Gillingham on Saturday, Coventry have confirmed

However, loanee Joe Cole will miss out as he attempts to get his match fitness fully back.

Bigirimana and Turner are both ex Coventry players and were signed on loan this week from Newcastle and Cardiff respectively.

Sky Blues boss Tony Mowbray stated that: “Ben is ready to play if we want him to and Gael could also be involved.”

He also said that Joe Cole, another loanee, from Premier League Aston Villa, will sit out the game.

Mowbray said: “We want to build up his resistance. He will probably not play this weekend, as we want to get him on the grass everyday, and get him in the gym, to get his body to a position where he can play week in week out.”

Coventry fans will be hoping that Bigirimana and Turner have a similar impact to other loan signings that the Sky Blues have brought in this season, with young Newcastle striker Adam Armstrong scoring for fun so far this campaign. Joe Cole has also impressed in his time on the pitch.

Coventry have been superb in Sky Bet League One this season and currently lie in second place, ahead of a huge top of the table clash on Saturday.

The Sky Blues face Gillingham at the Ricoh Arena, who are currently top, with only goal difference separating them and Coventry.

The Sky Blues could also be poised to offer a contract to one time Swedish international right back Martin Lorentzson.
