Coventry in move for Championship defender

League One side Coventry City have swooped to capture the loan signing of Cardiff City defender Ben Turner until January 3, reports Wales Online.

The 27-year-old, who played 72 games for the Sky Blues between 2005 and 2011 before sealing a £750,000 move to South Wales, is battling back to fitness following reconstruction of his ankle.

When the opportunity of a loan move to his former club came about, Turner was more than happy to oblige.

“It’s something I’ve had opportunity to do in the last couple of weeks and I feel ready now to step up and play competitive first team games – I’m delighted to be back.” he said.

“It’s been the toughest period of my career to date, I’ve had a bad 12 months with my left ankle. But I’m very happy with the surgery I’ve had, it’s been a full on fix and I feel great. I want to show everyone I’m fit and ready to take my career in right direction again.

“We worked hard to get to the Premier League with Cardiff, then to play that season in the top flight was a great experience, one I’ll always remember. Ever since then I had trouble with this ankle but now I’m ready to draw a line under that and get moving in the right direction.”

Joint leaders Coventry will be delighted to add a player of Turner’s quality to their squad and he will be available for Saturday’s top of the table clash at home to Gillingham.
