Brighton & Hove Albion are leading the chase for Bradford City defender James Meredith, according to The Sun.
Meredith has been in great form for Bradford this season, making 16 appearances in all competitions and scoring one goal. This form earned the defender an international call-up, and he made his Australia debut against Kyrgyzstan this week.
Bradford will not want to lose the defender, 27, who has made 141 appearances for the club since he joined from York City in 2012. However it is believed that Meredith has a release clause in his contract that could be activated if a Championship club come calling.
Brighton will face competition for the defenders signature, with Wolverhampton Wanderers and Reading also interested.
Meredith began his career with Derby County in 2006 but was released and joined Sligo Rovers in 2007.
