Wolves boss Kenny Jackett confirms interest in Newcastle starlet

Wolves boss Kenny Jackett has confirmed his interest in Newcastle starlet Adam Armstrong, reports the Express and Star

Armstrong, 18, is currently on loan at Sky Bet League One side Coventry. He has been in incredible form for the Sky Blues this season, netting 12 goals in 14 appearances.

His form for 4th placed Coventry has apparently attracted the interest of a number of clubs higher up the football pyramid, and Kenny Jackett has confirmed that Wolves are one of those who would like the opportunity to take on Armstrong.

However, any deal may be unlikely as although his loan spell at Coventry expires in January, Newcastle boss Steve McLaren has hinted that Armstrong is likely to remain at the Ricoh Arena for the rest of the campaign.

Jackett also confirmed that although Wolves are watching Armstrong with a keen interest, no official approach has been made to Newcastle.

He also confirmed the same situation with Manchester United prospect James Wilson, who has struggled to get game time this term, despite Wayne Rooney’s goalscoring struggles.

Wolves would like to bring in a goalscorer to compete with Benik Afobe and Adam Le Fondre, having lost Nouha Dicko to injury for the rest of this season.

The West Midlands club currently lie 14th in the Sky Bet Championship and with teams around them sacking their managers recently, Jackett may feel the pressure if they don’t start to climb the table soon.
