Preston loanee linked with Premier League

Tottenham Hotspur are the latest club to hold an interest in Preston loanee Jordan Pickford, according to ClubCall

Pickford, 21, is on loan at Deepdale from Premier League Sunderland and has impressed massively for the Lancashire club, keeping six successive clean sheets.

However, the England Under 21 international has been linked with a number of top flight clubs in recent weeks and Spurs appear to be the latest.

Sam Allardyce has already hinted that he may look to recall Pickford in January, with Sunderland currently struggling in the top flight, lying in 19th place.

Pickford has been on the radar of Premier League clubs for a long time and has been tipped by many as a possible future England number one.

However, Sunderland are unlikely to sanction any move for him, seeing him as a promising young player with the talent to make it at the top level. He has been tipped to be their number one, ahead of Costel Pantilimon and Vito Mannone in the near future.

He spent time on loan at Bradford City last season where he impressed and jumped up a division this year, with a loan move to newly promoted Preston North End.

Although they initially struggled, six clean sheets in a row have seen them rise to 17th in the league, four points clear of the drop zone.

Pickford has played a starring role in this, with solid performances, along with his exceptional distribution and ability to make big saves.

This form has seen him called up to the England Under 21 squad and he is now considered as the number one for Gareth Southgate’s side.

If Pickford continues to impress for Preston, it is unlikely that Spurs will be the only suitors with their eye on him.
