Stuart Pearce interested in Fulham management job

The Daily Mail understands that Stuart Pearce has expressed an interest in succeeding Kit Symons as the manager of Championship side Fulham. The former England Under-21 coach has been out of football since departing Nottingham Forest in February.

The 53-year-old, who began his playing career at Wealdstone and went on to make 78 appearances for England, is looking to return to management after a less than successful spell at the City Ground. He lasted only eight months in charge before being sacked, but his time out of the game has clearly wetted him appetite to get back involved.

The former left back can also count on the likes of Manchester City, The Great Britain Olympic Football Team and also a game in charge of the England senior national team on his coaching CV. In recent times, ‘Psycho’ has kept himself occupied by occasionally presenting on the TalkSport radio station.

Burton Albion manager Jimmy Floyd Hasselbaink and ex-Leicester City boss Nigel Pearson currently head the betting in the race to become the successor to Symons at Craven Cottage. Pearson is the clear favourite to take the vacancy at Championship rivals Queens Park Rangers. It also looks increasingly likely that Paul Lambert will become the next manager at Blackburn Rovers.

Without a doubt the hot seat at Fulham is clearly an appealing prospect to many managers, particularly those out of work. Alan Curbishley, who has been working with the club and took over training after Symons departing, has also declared his interest in being considered as a candidate.
