Ex-QPR keeper passes away at the age of 21

Former QPR goalkeeper Tommaso Trani has passed away following a short illness at the age of just 21, the club have confirmed.

Trani was on the books at the London club between 2011 and 2013 after coming through the youth ranks at Italian giants AC Milan.

Following his contract expiring at the club, he returned to his native Italy to carry on playing football there.

Interim QPR head coach Neil Warnock, who was also manager at the club when Trani arrived in 2011, told the club’s website that “this is absolutely tragic news. Tommaso was such a lovely, lovely lad.

“When something terrible like this happens it opens everybody’s eyes to the fact that football is only a game. There is nothing more important than your health.
“It gives us all a sense of perspective, particularly as he was so young. My thoughts are with his family.”
