Gillingham boss in frame for Championship job

Gillingham boss Justin Edinburgh is in the frame for the vacant Brentford job, according to The Sun.

Brentford are still searching for a permanent first-team manager to replace Marinus Dijkhuizen after he left the club in September.  Current caretaker manager Lee Carsley has enjoyed some good results since Dijkhuizen was sacked, propelling the club up to 11th.  However Carsley does not want the job permanently.

This has left Brentford looking for an alternative, and it is understood that current Gillingham manager Justin Edinburgh is being considered by the club.

Edinburgh took Newport County from the bottom of the Conference to League Two and kept them there, finishing in 14th place.  In the club’s second season in League Two, Edinburgh was enjoying success with the club in 6th place but left to join Gillingham in February.

Edinburgh’s success followed him, with the club now in third place in League One and looking good for promotion this season.

This is not the first Championship job that Edinburgh has been linked with this season however, with Rotherham being linked with the manager before they appointed Neil Redfearn.
