Talented Fulham striker may join namesake at Spurs

The London Evening Standard is reporting that Tottenham Hotspur are interested in signing Fulham striker Moussa Dembele. The 19-year-old striker was the subject of interest from Bayern Munich only a few weeks ago.

Then Fulham boss Kit Symons never shied away from the fact that he hoped to tie down Dembele to a longer-term deal to remain at Craven Cottage. His deal runs out at the end of this campaign, with several suitors said to be interested in luring him away from the Championship mid-table side. With Symons now gone, the new manager, possibly former Leicester City boss Nigel Pearson or Burton Albion’s Jimmy Floyd Hasselbaink, will have the task of trying to prevent a star striker departing.

Mauricio Pochettino is heavily believed to be interested in bringing Dembele to the club, meaning he’d like up with his namesake and former teammate at Spurs. 28-year-old Mousa Dembele, who left Fulham for £15million when moving to White Hart Lane in 2012, could be joined by a second Dembele. The pair are in no way related however.

Considering his deal expires at the end of the season, Fulham would receive a much larger sum in January should they sell, rather than the compensation they’d receive at the end of the campaign if the striker didn’t agree a new deal. He has found the net on eight occasions already this season, and has struck an impressive striking relationship with Ross McCormack. The new Fulham boss already has a top strike-force in place, but it remains to be seen if that is the case next season, or even next year.
