Reading to trial versatile Colorado Rapids MLS star

Reading are a team stuffed with talent, possessing the likes of Ola John, Matej Vydra, Orlando Sa and Lucas Piazon in their ranks, now they have decided to take an American/Italian MLS star on a trial period according to various sources including mlssoccer.com.

The MLS website, expanding on a truncated report in The Sun online, report that the former Notre Dame alumni, Dillon Powrs, is to get a tryout at the Berkshire club with the Colorado Rapids Vice President of Soccer Operations Paul Bravo saying to reporters recently that, “He’s a very sharp young man, he has everything thought through and Europe is something that he would like to experience somewhere down the road in his career.” They also report that Powers has recently acquired an Italian passport, something he applied for whilst still at Notre Dame, which would classify him as an EU citizen and thus would exempt him from playing quotas needed for overseas players.

Powers was drafted by the Colorado Rapids in the 2013 MLS SuperDraft, ending his first season by earning MLS Rookie of the Year award. During his inaugural season in the MLS, he scored five goals and provided six assists for teammates. In all, in his three MLS seasons, Dillon Powers has played in at least 30 games every season and has a total of 13 MLS goals and 19 goal assists in regular season play.
