Leeds United linked midfielder will not play tonight

Leeds United linked midfielder Liam Bridcutt will not play in the club’s game against Cardiff City at Elland Road tonight as his loan deal will not be completed in time, according to a report.

It is understood that Leeds have agreed a deal with Sunderland to take the midfielder on an emergency loan until January but the clubs missed a 12pm deadline meaning Bridcutt cannot play for Leeds against Cardiff tonight.

Bridcutt, 26, is believed to be the player that Leeds boss Steve Evans was hinting about signing yesterday.  He said: “We’ve identified a number of players in each position and my first choice in this department of this team would be the one that we’re very close to.”

Bridcutt has not played much at Sunderland of late and their new boss Sam Allardyce seems in favour of letting the midfielder leave to get more game time in the Championship.

It is believed that Bridcutt will complete his loan move before Leeds play Huddersfield Town on Saturday.
