Evans states ‘we’ve had a 50 percent ratio of good performances’

Leeds United Head Coach Steve Evans has said that he believes his side have ‘had a 50 percent ratio of good performances’ during his spell in charge of the club as Leeds prepare to face Cardiff City at Elland Road on Tuesday night.

The 53-year-old took over the reigns at the West Yorkshire club following Uwe Rosler’s sacking in mid-October. Draws at Fulham and Bolton, and the home defeat to Blackburn last week, means that Evans is still searching for his first win as Leeds United boss.

Speaking in his pre-match press conference, Evans spoke about his current group of players and questioned their attitude going into games. Asked about his side’s performance during the 2-0 loss to Blackburn last week, the Leeds boss replied “well I think that sometimes, as poor as it was in the first 25 minutes, there is no point in going in with a headmasters’ head in the old days and taking a cane out. It would be absolutely ridiculous.

“You have to analyse why it went so wrong and we’ve shared that with the players. We gave opinions like we always ask, they gave us their opinions and it’s up to us as coaching staff, which we’ve done since last Friday, is to have a plan in place to affect Cardiff City.”

Full audio from Evans can be found below, where he further discusses the Cardiff clash, his current group of players and looking to make new additions to the side.
