Leeds turn to out-of-favour Sunderland midfielder

Leeds United are close to signing Sunderland midfielder Liam Bridcutt on a loan-deal, according to Radio Yorkshire.

Bridcutt is yet to make an appearance for the Black Cats so far this term and is set to arrive at Elland Road on a loan deal until January with new Leeds boss Steve Evans looking to bolster his side.

There is a possibility that Bridcutt could be available for Leeds’ game against Cardiff City on Tuesday night if paperwork is completed in time. The 26 year-old midfielder has struggled since joining Sunderland for £2.5m from Brighton & Hove Albion in 2014. He will join up with former Brighton team-mate Will Buckley at Elland Road in his quest for first-team football.

According to The Telegraph, Steve Evans is also “targeting another four players after admitting the current squad will struggle to stay in the Championship”.

Evans will be looking to get his first win as Leeds boss against Cardiff, as they sit in 19th place – three points above the relegation zone.
