Match Preview: Can Charlton Secure First Win Since August On Teeside?

It’s been quite a turbulent week to say the least if you are a Charlton Fan like myself. Owner Roland Duchatelet has sacked his fourth manager in a year with Guy Luzon the latest man to lose his job following a heavy 3-0 defeat by Brentford last weekend which stretched Charlton’s winless run to 10 games.

Charlton head north to an in-form Middlesbrough on Saturday looking for their first win since August and it’s a first game in charge of the Addicks for Interim Head Coach, Karel Fraeye.

Whilst the appointment of Karel Fraeye was not greeted too fondly by the Charlton supporters on Twitter, Charlton will be looking to their most senior players to put in a performance against the Teesiders and show a sense of urgency and passion to play for the shirt and get something out of the game.

Middlesbrough come into the game after playing 120 minutes plus penalties at Old Trafford on Wednesday night in the Capital One Cup when they eventually came out victorious. Will tired legs of the Boro’ players play into Charlton’s hands?

Charlton will welcome back Alou Diarra into the heart of the defence alongside summer signing, Patrick Bauer, who continues to impress. The shortage of goals is something that needs to be addressed, but if we can get Simon [Makienok] & Tony [Watt] firing again then this will go a long way to solving that problem, not to mention a return of Igor Vetokele who is not too far away after successful recovery from injury.

Charlton Team Prediction: Henderson, Solly, Diarra, Bauer, Fox; Gudmundsson, Cousins, Jackson, McAleny; Makienok, Watt.
