Steve Evans – 5 things post Leeds United draw

Steve Evans’ second game in charge at Elland Road resulted in a second successive 1-1 draw against Bolton, his team again going behind and having to claw themselves back into the game.

Five things from Steve Evans post-match, pitch-side interview

1. On the way the game played out

“Frustrated, I’m the manager. I’m disappointed and I think those fantastic Leeds United supporters behind the goal will go away disappointed because for me it’s two points lost.”

2. On what went wrong

“I don’t think we started the way we did at Fulham. We were half a yard off all ove rthe pitch today in the opening 20 minutes.”

3. On turning it around after half time

“Play without fear. Let’s go out and attack that goal where there’s a fantastic support behind you.”

4. On why Chris Wood isn’t scoring

“Chris Wood’s movement is absolutely fantastic, people should look at it, it’s fantastic. You have to stick it on his nut. If you stick it on his nut and the big man doesn’t score, the fault is with the big man.”

5. On bad defending and conceding goals

Well, they’re both [goals at Fulham and Bolton] soft aren’t they, both very soft. Concentrating on today, it’s the corner…it’s the goalkeeper [he] should pluck the cross and we should be up the pitch.”
