Bolton sign Ameobi – Twitter reacts

Bolton’s goal-shy strikeforce has been bolstered somewhat by the signing of ex-Newcastle man Shola Ameobi. The ex-England Under-21 international has found a home at the Macron Stadium and could feature in today’s crunch game against Leeds United.

The pay-as-you-play deal, signed late on Friday, could see 34-year old Ameobi pair up with 37-year old Emile Heskey in a strike force with a combined age of 71. Ameobi’s journey to Bolton has seens the highs of playing for Newcastle against Bercelona, through 10 Nigeria caps beore his release last season by Crystal Palace, with whom he spent the last six months of the season after moving from Turkish side Gaziantep BB. Since leaving Crystal Palace, the 34-year old has had trials at five Championship clubs including Bolton but also Huddersfield, Wolves, Sheffield Wednesday and Charlton before landing back in Lancashire and agreeing the deal with the Wanderers.

With Bolton being where they are in the table, goals and wins will be the currency that the club are interested in as they look to pull away from the beginnings of an early battle against relegation. However, what are fans thinking and reacting like over on Twitter?

However, some fans remain hopeful,

Whilst some fans are moved to tears…of laughter,

Preston fans can’t wait for the local derby fixture,

However, some remain totally optimistic,

The saying goes that he who laughs last, laughs longest so it is worth bearing that in mind. However, a combined 71-year old strike force, you can see where the mirth and merriment is coming from.
