Lewis Cook is one of those bright young diamonds shining in the murkiness of Leeds United performances of late. However, the Leeds United youngster had a chance to shine on the international stage as England Under-19s took on their Finnish counterparts in Macedonia.
On a pitch so water-logged that it almost resembled a paddy field, the United midfielder played the full 90 minutes, before being replaced by Middlesbrough’s Dael Fry as time added-on drifted in. Before he left the field, it was youngster Cook whose threaded pass for Chelsea’s Tammy Abraham set up the only goal of the game as England won 1-0.
Next up for the 18-year old Cook is the possibility of representing his country against a skillful Italy U19s side before he returns to Leeds in readiness for the visit of league leaders Brighton next week.
