Championship target could move to Celtic

Manchester United striker James Wilson is wanted by Celtic in the January transfer window, according to a report by The Sun.

Celtic are looking to put together a deal to take Wilson on loan in January for the rest of the season, after failing in their previous attempt to lure the player to Scotland.

The Scottish champions tried to sign Wilson in summer but were told by manager Louis Van Gaal that the striker wouldn’t be leaving Manchester United on loan until he had signed a new long-term contract with the club.

Wilson has now signed this contract and so Celtic believe they have a much better chance of getting him on loan.

The England U21 international has been linked with several Championship clubs on loan so far this season, however has been kept at Manchester United, playing for the Under-21 team.

With Wilson’s potential, Celtic are one of the many who believe he should be playing at a higher level than this and so believe they can tempt Manchester United enough to loan him until the end of the season.
