Northampton extend loan deals of defensive duo

Northampton Town have this afternoon confirmed on their official website that Darnell Furlong and Shaun Brisley have extended their loan spells with the club. Both will remain at Sixfields for an additional month.

19-year-old Furlong has started five league and one cup tie since moving from Loftus Road. The Luton-born defender is son of former QPR forward Paul, who featured over 160 times for the London club. The youngster has Premier League experience under his belt in the form of three appearances. Included in those are two full 90 minute displays against Hull City and Arsenal respectively.

25-year-old Brisley has also enjoyed a 100% record of appearances since joining the League Two side. He is on loan from Peterborough United and has struggled to command a place in the London Road club’s starting eleven on a regular basis in the past few seasons. Last season he was loaned out to Scunthorpe United on a similar deal.

Both will remain with their temporary club up to and including the match against Mansfield Town on November 14th 2015. The Cobblers entertain Hartlepool United tomorrow knowing that a victory could propel Chris Wilder’s charges into the play-off places. Both Furlong and Brisley are again expected to be named in Wilder’s starting eleven once again.
