Leeds United: captain Bamba issues clarion call

A club’s captain is that man capable of marshalling the troops when faced with growing uncertainty, giving them the impetus to drive forward when hope is dwindling. Sol Bamba is one of those men and he’s insisting that Leeds United change their ways.

Sensing that observers of the club may be sensing some issue with winning at home, seeing that the team’s form has dipped of late with three recent defeats, two at Elland Road, Bamb a has urged the Whites to “stay positive.”

With league leaders Brighton next to visit Elland Road, Bamba said, in the aftermath of Saturday’s disappointing defeat to Birmingham City,

“We can’t panic, that’s the message. We have to stay positive. I know it’s difficult but we have to stay positive and not show any panic. I understand the worries everyone will have because we’re not winning home games but we can put this right. We know the expectation of the club. We have to be tough in the head and be men.” Sol Bamba: official club website – October 5, 2015

With fighting talk like this intended to stiffen the sinews, Bamba also tells the club’s official site that one positive result at Elland Road could be all that is needed to swing things around. On this subject, Bamba said,

“The home record is annoying. We need to address it very quickly. If you want to do anything in this league, you need to be strong at home. I don’t think it’s about nerves or pressure. I just think we need to perform. After one home win things will change. It is all about getting that first one.” Sol Bamba: official club website – October 5, 2015

The true proof of the pudding will come from the performance against surprise Championship leaders Brighton in just under a fortnight, days in which honing of the training pitch needs to be done for Leeds to get that first home win since March this year.
