Leeds United: Buckley the trend as winger signs

Leeds United have finally formalised and announced the signing of Sunderland winger Will Buckley on a 93-day emergency loan, with a view to a projected £1m permanent signing.

The Whites have announced the deal today, even though Buckley has been training with the team for the last week, to take full advantage of the 93 days of the loan period, thus taking the ex-Brighton winger into January when the next transfer window opens.

Buckley is looking forward to getting his teeth into playing for his new club, a feeling that he got over when speaking about the move. As reported on the club website, Buckley said,

“I wanted to go out and get some games at a big club and Leeds was the perfect opportunity for me to do that. There was interest in the summer but after the transfer window closed Leeds were still there and they showed they were keen to get me. I was keen to come here and eventually it got sorted out, which I was pleased about. Even though the loan deal didn’t start until this week, I was glad to get with the lads and get training. It feels like a fresh start for me. Will Buckley; Leeds United website – October 2, 2015

A signing such as this, one which addresses a well-remarked weakness in the team, is one that is bound to be well-received by Leeds United fans. These fans will be hoping that he shows some of the skills (below) that he demonstrated whilst on the books at Brighton.
