Buckley expected to seal Leeds move before weekend

The Daily Star believes that Leeds United will tomorrow confirm the loan signing of Sunderland winger Will Buckley on a three-month loan. He has spent the last week training with the Elland Road club in anticipation of the move being finalised.

25-year-old Buckley has found himself out of favour at the Stadium of Light ever since Dutchman Dick Advocaat was appointed towards the end of last season. Whites boss Uwe Rosler says that he is planning on having Buckley available and in his squad for this Saturday’s game with Birmingham City,

“He’s competing for a place. He brings experience in the Championship and experience of playing for a team who challenge at the top of the Championship.

He brings pace, directness, goal-threat and he’s a good lad. He’s perfectly suited to our squad.”

The loan move is believed to come with a clause whereby Leeds can make the move permanent for £1million once the January transfer window reopens.

Buckley brings plenty of Championship experience, not just with his time at Watford but also from a three season spell with Brighton & Hove Albion. Prior to this he made his name in the game in League Two with Rochdale, prompting Malky Mackay to take him to Vicarage Road on a three-and-a-half-year contract. His transfer fee when moving to Brighton was believed to be £1million.
