#72bet Nigel’s weekend Football League tips

There are some massive games in the Football League this weekend, with the highlight without question at the top of the Championship table between Leicester and Burnley at the King Power. When it comes to gambling on the Football League these matches produce very little in the way of value with the best betting options usually coming in League 1 or League 2 where knowledge is everything.

This week I believe the best bet on the Football League coupon lies in the basement division when AFC Wimbledon host Mansfield at Cherry Records Stadium.

The Dons have had a steady first half to the season lying in 12th position but at home they are a match for anybody with only two defeats from their nine home games including fine wins over Fleetwood and Portsmouth.

Mansfield haven’t won a league game in the last five and haven’t won away from Field Mill since the end of September, so on current form alone the 11/10 about a Wimbledon win is far too big, but add this to the mix! The Stags take on Oldham on Tuesday in a very winnable FA Cup second-round replay, the winners have been given a plum third-round draw away at Anfield to take on the Premier League giants Liverpool in the New Year, so Tuesday’s cup match has to take priority over Saturday’s trip to London (the bookies prices were produced before the cup draw) and I would make the Dons odds-on for this match-up. I fully expect the money to come in for the home team before kick-off and expect them to start odds by 3pm on Saturday, so get on the 11/10 NOW.

In the Championship there are some very tricky looking ties I would make a small case for in-form Derby at 13/10 away at struggling Charlton, The Addicks are missing there influential skipper Johnnie Jackson through suspension which is a major blow to Chris Powell’s strugglers. I also like QPR at 11/10 away at Blackpool, Paul Ince’s sea-siders have had five players sent-off in their last two games and are still without a suspended trio for the visit of the odds-on Championship favourites.

The most popular bet for Football League punters is the Both Teams To Score market and the banker this week has to be the clash at the City Ground between Nottingham Forest and in-form Ipswich. Both teams have scored in 4 of the last 6 Forest and 5 of the last 6 Ipswich’s games, they both have two in-form strikers in Simon Cox and Daryl Murphy and goals certainly look on the Christmas menu so the 8/11 for both teams to find the back of the net should pay for the late Christmas presents.

Football League Flutter
11/10 AFC Wimbledon to beat Mansfield
13/10 Derby to beat Charlton
11/10 QPR to beat Blackpool
1 treble (pays just over 9/1) & 1 single on AFC Wimbledon @ 11/10

Both Teams to Score Banker
Nottingham Forest v Ipswich 8/11
