5 Football League clubs that are underachieving so far

Now is the time of the season when the league table supposedly begins shape. Certain times have started much slower than they’d have liked. We focus on five teams who headline those who have performed below their high standards so far this season.

1) Preston North End (22nd in the Championship)

Preston finally achieved promotion last season after several years of ‘knocking on the door’ in League One. They have a squad that simply should be performing much better than it is and manager Simon Grayson acknowledges that. They haven’t made too many changes from last season and they do miss Jermaine Beckford with injury, however they are struggling to keep clean sheets. Whilst the standard in opposition from last season has increased, Preston perhaps just need to get back to basics to get some results on the board.
