Sheffield United close to deal for Premier League player

Sheffield United are close to signing Dean Hammond, according to Shoot.

The Blades are reportedly keen to bring the 32-year old to the club to give him some more game-time, as they believe he could prove a nice addition to their squad.

The midfielder is not currently involved with the Leicester first-team much and he could be shipped out on loan to Sheffield United to get more action under his belt.

Step in Nigel Adkins, who is reportedly hoping for a reunion with a player he worked with back in 2011 and 2012 at Southampton.

Hammond has featured just once so far this year, in the Foxes Capital One cup match against Bury. Last year, he played just 12 times as well.

It may be time for the midfielder to look elsewhere for first-team football and with former boss Nigel Adkins keen to sign him up on a short-term basis, he could soon be plying his trade at Bramall Lane.
