Bees chairman adamant that change was needed

Brentford chairman Cliff Crown has this afternoon released a statement on the club’s official website, highlighting the reasons for today’s managerial change. He believes they were slowly drifting further away from their long-term goals.

Crown has extremely complementary to new head coach Lee Carsley, who impressed in his role with the younger age groups and thoroughly expects him to continue with the Brentford philosophy and do all that he can to bring success to Griffin Park. The statement opened up with Crown thanking the departing Marinus Dijkhuizen and assistant Roy Hendriksen for their time with the club,

The Club would like to place on record its thanks to Marinus and Roy for all their efforts during their time at Griffin Park.

Following this, the Club moved swiftly and decisively in order to maintain its long-term vision and philosophy.

That’s why Lee Carsley has been appointed as Head Coach for the remainder of the season.

Lee has shown with the Under-21s he is an outstanding leader. His work at the training ground has been hugely impressive whilst coaching the development squad and has demonstrated he understands the Club’s philosophy and ambitions of Brentford FC.

The chairman also outlined that the aim always has been to ensure the supporters are given the success that they deserve and that the new head coach is more than capable to deal with the pressures of management, it what is his first job in the hot-seat,

We believe these qualities will help Lee settle into his new role effectively and quickly.

Rest assured, we are determined to do everything possible to achieve the success you, the supporters, desire. Lee’s appointment, at this time, is key to that and we will be doing everything in our power to support him and the rest of the staff.

Carsley will take charge of his first game in management tomorrow night as Birmingham City are welcomed to Griffin Park.
