Trialist Emmanuel Mbende has taken to Facebook to announce his delight at signing his first pro deal with Birmingham City.
However, Birmingham are yet to confirm the signing of the towering defender, who stands at 6’5 and is capable of playing in a holding midfield role.
The defender spent 7 years at Borussia Dortmund but was released last year so he could get first team football – an encouraging sign for Blues fans.
Mbende never broke into the Dortmund first team – understandably – but was a mainstay in the youth team at the heart of the defence.
He has had a long trial at Blues while the staff had a look at how he will fit in with the plans, and Blues have decided to offer him a contract.
Mbende adds height to an otherwise short defence and at just 19 has plenty of time to mature and reach his potential.
