According to a report by The Sun, Nottingham Forest’s transfer embargo could soon be lifted by The Football League.
Nottingham Forest have been under transfer embargo, albeit not a full one, since missing a payment due to Peterborough for striker Britt Assombalonga in February 2015. This has restricted the club in terms of numbers of players they are allowed to register.
However following Michail Antonio’s move from Forest to Premier League side West Ham United, the embargo could now be lifted.
The £7 million fee brought in by Forest could be enough to see the end of the embargo and give the club lots more room to move in the transfer market. Under the embargo, Forest can only sign players who are out of contract and players on emergency loans.
Antonio had a very successful season personally with Nottingham Forest, scoring 15 goals in 49 appearances for the club. He had also started off this season very well, scoring 4 goals in 5 appearances.
