Two new signings join Crawley Town

Crawley Town have announced the signings of Rhys Murphy and Ross Jenkins on their official website.

24-year-old striker Murphy has arrived on loan from Oldham Athletic, while Jenkins, also 24, has been signed on a short term deal keeping him at the Broadfield stadium until January.

Despite netting in last weeks 5-1 defeat to Peterborough United, Murphy has been sent out on loan and Mark Yates is pleased to get an experienced goal scorer in.

He said: ” I know all about Rhys, he can definitely score goals at this level. Rhys is 6ft 1in and not only is he good in the air he is also an excellent footballer with good movement and a physicality to his game which you need in League 2. He’s with us for three months and I’m confident he will make a good impression here if we can get good service into him.”

Jenkins is not short of experience either and joins Crawley having made close to 100 appearances at Championship level with Watford.

Following a successful trial, the midfielder has been training with the club for three weeks and has earnt a short-term contract.

The central midfielder told the club website he is enjoying life at his new club so far.

He said: “I’ve been here for nearly three weeks and I’ve really enjoyed being back in a club environment again.I know Youngy (Lewis Young) and Bobson (Bawling) from my time at Watford so that has helped me settle in.We have got a good group of lads here and I’m raring to go. If the manager picks me for Saturday’s game I will be ready.”

The two will be available for selection this weekend as Crawley look to put their 4-0 loss at Mansfield behind them and take advantage of an injury stricken Yeovil side.
