Manchester United preparing bid for Leeds United youngster

Manchester United are keen on signing Leeds United full-back Charlie Taylor, and may make a move for the youngster in January, according to reports.

The 21-year-old has been one of the stand-out stars in Uwe Rosler’s side after making his first-team breakthrough last season. In total, Taylor has made 36 appearances for the Whites, scoring two and assisting two. He has also represented England at under-19 level, featuring twice for his country.

Whilst primarily operating as a left-back, Taylor spent part of last season playing further up the pitch in a left-midfield role.

The Express says that Manchester United boss Louis Van Gaal has sent scouts to watch Taylor and has been impressed by the performances.

Van Gaal was planning on keeping tabs on the youngster and making a move for him next summer. This changed today, after a nasty injury to first choice left-back Luke Shaw in last night’s defeat to PSV, the club now plan to make a move for Taylor in the January transfer window.

Leeds United lost their first game of the season last night against Ipswich Town. The West Yorkshire club lost 1-0 in the fixture at Elland Road and head coach Uwe Rosler states that his side “have to learn to play against teams who make it difficult for us to get on the ball.”
