Villa eyeing move for on-loan Preston goalkeeper

According to a report by The Sun, Aston Villa are interested in making a move for Preston’s on-loan goalkeeper Jordan Pickford.

Scouts from Aston Villa have been watching Pickford at Preston and have been impressed by his performances of late.  This has led boss Tim Sherwood to consider making a move for the goalkeeper.

Pickford, 21, has been out on loan many times from parent club Sunderland.  Prior to his current loan, he has spent time with Darlington, Alfreton Town and Burton Albion.  Although more recently Pickford has been on loan at Carlisle United and Bradford City.

Pickford also recently made his debut for England U21, against USA U23 at Deepdale this month.  He then went on to play for the team again four days later against Norway.

The goalkeeper is reportedly rated very highly by Sunderland so could be tempted to fight for a first-team place there.  However interest from Aston Villa and rumors of Tottenham also being interested may change the player’s mind.
