QPR, QPR striker turned down move to Premier League

QPR striker turned down move to Premier League

According to a report, QPR striker Charlie Austin turned down a move to the Premier League during the summer transfer window.

There was constant speculation surrounding Austin and where his future would lie all summer.  In the end no club met QPR’s £15 million valuation and Austin ended up staying with the Championship side.

Today however, Austin has claimed that he turned to a move to the Premier League when talking to talkSPORT.

Austin said: “I turned down a move [to the Premier League] which wasn’t right for me and my family.  I didn’t feel it was right for me to go, so I stayed at QPR.”

Newcastle United were thought to be interested but the only Premier League side that confirmed making a bid for Austin’s services were Leicester City.

Whichever club did come in for Austin, it seems the move wasn’t right for the QPR striker and he will remain in the Championship until January at least, focusing on scoring the goals to fire QPR back into the Premier League.
