Derby County: interest in Manchester United starlet

The Daily Star reports that Derby County are interested in young striker James Wilson once the emergency loan window opens for teams outside the Premier League on September 8.

The Star say that the youngster “was considering his future in the last few days of the window” after Manchester United told him to look “for a new club to gain games”. However, the Star reports that the mood changed and the Old Trafford outfit told Wilson that he had a role to play at the club and would be willing to allow him to go out on loan in a move designed to develop his all-round game.

The £2m-rated youngster, who hasn’t featured for Manchester United this term, scored on his England Under-21 debut last week in a 1-0 victory over the USA Under-23 side. However, the youngster does have Premier League game time for Manchester United tucked into his belt with 13 appearances (one goal) last season whilst also scoring for the first team in the 3-0 home defeat of Cambridge United. He also scored four goals in 10 appearances in the U21 Premier League last season, building on his good showing in 2013/14 season when he scored two goals in the 3-1 defeat of Hull City in the Premier League as well as seven goals in nine U21 Premier League games and five goals in six UEFA Youth League games.

News of Derby’s supposed interest in the Manchester United youngster has had a ripple of reaction over on Twitter.
