After signing at the last minute a week last Friday, Devante Cole got off to a flier with an injury time winner for Bradford City. Yesterday he scored again to make it two-in-two for the Bantams.
Bradford made the short journey across Saddleworth Moor to face Oldham Athletic at their Boundary Park ground. Oldham, courtesy of a better start to the season than the Bantams, sat in 10th place and a win would have pushed them closer to the fringes of a play-off place. However, it wasn’t to be as Bradford City won 2-1, for the second win in a row to take themselves up to 11th and drop Oldham down to 13th.
However, the story of the day was a player who made the journey in the opposite direction, from Manchester to Bradford, as Devante Cole continued his account at Bradford City with another well taken goal, Cole span off the shoulder of the defender, and, from a difficult angle, nonchalantly lifted it over the outstretched hand of John Coleman in the Oldham goal. City fans have been looking for that goal threat since Nakhi Wells left for Huddersfield and Devante Cole is giving them hope that they have found Wells’ replacement.

Whilst there are some who could point the finger of blame at him for being selfish with the ball, if he keeps on scoring then this moaning will disappear into the background.

Watching the Devante Cole goal. Great to see that kind of movement for his goal. Running off the back of the defenders. #bcafc

Whichever way you look at it, whatever your views on the ‘big clubs’ and their academies, there is no doubt that Devante Cole received a great grounding in football at Manchester City. This football schooling is now paying dividends in the claret and amber of Bradford City.
