Swindon Town are set to sign Leeds United forward Nicky Ajose, after Leeds agreed to release him so that he could join outside of the transfer window, according to BBC Wiltshire.
The 23-year-old has been told to find another club as he has no future at Elland Road, just over 12 months after signing from Peterborough United. Ajose has managed just 4 appearances for Leeds and has failed to find the net.
He has previously spent a spell at Swindon on-loan from Peterborough, Ajose made 21 appearances during his time at the League One club, scoring 10 and assisting 1. The forward spent a large part of last season in League One on-loan at Crewe, where he scored 8 in 27 appearances.
Swindon have been looking at signing Ajose since his exclusion from Leeds United’s pre-season tour of Austria and game in Norway. They attempted to take the striker on-loan at the end of July but the Whites refused, preferring to get rid of the player on a permanent deal.
Following this failed attempt, it appears Swindon are now going to beat competition from the likes of Coventry to secure his signature as they look to improve on last season’s play-off final disappointment.
