Barnsley have announced the signing of young goalkeeper Nick Townsend on a permanent deal.
The 20-year-old has completed a transfer for an undisclosed fee from Birmingham City today. He initially joined the Reds on a loan deal but has now made his deal permanent, signing a three-year contract.
He made his debut in the Capital One Cup fixture against Scunthorpe United to help secure the home tie against Everton.
Townsend told Barnsley’s official website “I’m delighted to get the deal done”, going to on to add “Since day one I’ve really enjoyed training and everything about being here”.
Certain Birmingham City fans were disappointed with losing Townsend who has been at Birmingham since he was a youth player (see below).
