Birmingham Mail have reported that Blue forward Wes Thomas is set to join Swindon Town on loan until January.
The 28-year-old has found himself out of choice at St Andrew’s with Clayton Donaldson the starting-striker for Blues and his claim wasn’t helped by the recent signing of Danish forward Nicolai Brock-Masden.
Thomas will now link up with former Birmingham City player Mark Cooper at League One Swindon in a search for first-team football.
The English striker signed from Rotherham United in June 2014 but has since seen his Championship opportunities limited. Thomas scored both of Birmingham City’s goals against Gillingham in the Capital One Cup to set up a tie against fierce rivals Aston Villa.
A section of Birmingham fans are disappointed at his lack of chances, and happy with his performances for the rapidly improving side (see below).
Would prefer we had kept Wes Thomas. Scored 2 good goals in the cup. Quick, poachers instinct, goal getter. Good signing for #stfc
