Nottingham Forest looking to loan experienced striker

Nottingham Forest are close to signing Brighton forward Chris O’Grady on loan according to Nottingham Post.

The Midlands club are looking to tie up the deal on Monday afternoon, with boss Dougie Freedman needing a striker to cover for injured Britt Assombalonga and Matty Fryatt. He is looking to turn towards O’Grady who arrived at Brighton for a fee of £2m last summer, but has fell down the pecking order at the AMEX Stadium.

He has made 15 starts and 16 sub appearances, but has only hit the back of the net once. Although this has not put Freedman off the 6ft 2in target man.

Forest would become the 14th club that O’Grady has played for in his career. It’s a deal that excites some Nottingham Forest fans, but disappoints others (see below).

Negotiations for the sale of Forest winger Michail Antonio to West Ham United are still thought to be going on and will come close to the deadline.
