Rhodes should make bench for Bolton clash after injury

Blackburn Rovers could be boosted by the return of Jordan Rhodes for tonight’s Championship clash with Bolton Wanderers according to boss Gary Bowyer. Speaking to the Lancashire Telegraph, Rhodes should be a part of the squad following a recent ankle injury.

Bowyer quotes that Rhodes is ‘desperate’ to make a comeback into the side. Considering the former Huddersfield Town striker has scored four goals in the last three meetings, it is no surprise that Rhodes is keen to make a comeback at Ewood Park this evening.

Bowyer insists that Rhodes wants to be a part of the action and has made positive progress since the injury,

“The injury has taken a little bit longer than we hoped but at the same time it could have been a lot worse – he could have been out for months with the nature of the challenge.

He’s worked ever so hard and, knowing Jordan as we do, the number of chances we’ve created in the last two games, he’ll be desperate to get back playing.

I think that’s been his motivation to get fit – the number of chances we’ve been creating he could easily have six goals by now.”

Since the injury he sustained two weeks ago against his former side Huddersfield, Fode Koita has been drafted into the side to partner former Aston Villa and Blackpool striker Nathan Delfouneso up front. Koita has been substituted and replaced by Swansea City loan man Modou Barrow. Koita is again expected to start tonight, but will almost certainly be replaced by Rhodes at some stage.

Blackburn can be backed at 21/20 to record their first victory of the season, with Bolton available at 5/2 to kick-start their season. A draw is priced 9/4. Click here to take advantage of these markets and the many more betting opportunities surrounding tonight’s televised encounter.
