Reading close to Lucas Piazon signing

Championship side Reading are reportedly close to securing a season-long loan for Chelsea youngster Lucas Piazon, according to the Reading Chronicle’s Paul Carey.

The 21-year-old spent last season on-loan at Bundesliga side Eintracht Frankfurt, where he made 23 appearances, scoring twice and assisting two. The winger has international honours, representing Brazil at under-17, under-20 and under-23 level.

Piazon will add further width on the left side to Steve Clarke’s side this season, with Reading already having Hal Robson-Kanu in that position.

Reading are looking to strengthen their attacking options this summer, with the club previously looking to sign Watford’s Matej Vydra on a season-long loan, although Clarke admitted that it would be a difficult one to secure.

In addition to signing Lucas Piazon, Paul Carey also reports that Reading are closing in on a loan-deal that will see Nathaniel Chalobah join the club for the coming season.

The Royals currently sit in 19th place in the Championship after four games, drawing against Sheffield Wednesday, Leeds United and MK Dons following an opening day loss to Birmingham City.
