Birmingham, Leicester plotting bid for Birmingham star

Leicester plotting bid for Birmingham star

The Foxes are preparing to make a bid for Birmingham’s Demarai Gray, according to the Daily Mail.

The Blues winger was a hit at the club last season and he has attracted a ton of interest from various clubs this summer so far because of his performances. Leicester are the latest to register an interest and they are hopeful that they can do a deal before the transfer window closes.

This is despite the fact that the 19-year old has only just penned a new deal with Birmingham at the beginning of the summer. He signed on to play for the Blues for three more years and the club had hoped it would ward off interest from any potential suitors.

However, it clearly hasn’t, with the Foxes now preparing a bid of up to £5m for Gray. Bournemouth were the last side to make a bid but that was back in July and they have since cooled their interest in him.

Birmingham won’t be too keen to part ways with one of their star players – especially because of this new deal – but this bid from Leicester could seriously test their resolve.

Add in to that the fact that there is a reported release clause in the contract – although the fee to trigger it is unknown – and the Blues may struggle to hold onto him if the Foxes make this bid and step up their interest in him.
