Crystal Palace preparing fresh move for QPR forward

Crystal Palace are considering a new bid for QPR striker Charlie Austin, according to the Mirror.

The club are still keen on the forward and are eager to sign him before the transfer window shuts. However, they aren’t willing to meet QPR’s asking price of £15m, as they feel it is too much to pay for the 26-year old.

Earlier in the summer, Palace made an approach for Austin but they were put off by his rather large asking price. So much so, that they cooled their interest in him for several weeks.

But, with the striker still hitting the back of the net regularly in the Championship, he is once again on the club’s radar. He has got off to a flying start in the new campaign and it has led many to claim that he won’t be in the second tier of English football for much longer.

Add to that the fact that the 26-year old has just one-year left on his current deal and it’s likely that he could be sold on before the transfer window slams shut. Other teams such as Bournemouth, Newcastle and Norwich are also keeping tabs on Austin but it is Palace who are now leading the race for his signature.

The only issue is the price – Alan Pardrew isn’t willing to pay £15m for the forward but if QPR lower their asking price slightly, then a deal can be done. They are confident they will have the funds to complete a deal, with Dwight Gayle close to being sold and Yannick Bolasie also gathering a lot of interest (although they aren’t too keen on letting go of Bolasie).

They should have the funds and if QPR are willing to accept just a bit less than their asking price, then we could soon see Charlie Austin back in the Premier League with Palace.
