Blackburn dismiss rumours of Bowyer sacking

Following strong rumours that circulated last night, Blackburn Rovers have confirmed that manager Gary Bowyer HAS NOT been sacked. The club’s official Twitter handle revealed the news and would now like to put an end to the matter.

The Lancashire Telegraph also reported how Bowyer still remains as the clubs manager, following the escalation of the rumours which went viral on social media last night.

Yesterday Blackburn continued their winless start to the season with a 1-0 defeat against unbeaten Brighton & Hove Albion. Speaking to the BBC after the game, the former Rotherham United defender felt his side deserved at least a point,

“It’s a difficult place to come to and Chris (Hughton) has done a good job with his recruitment, but we should have been 2-0 up after 20 minutes.

We created a lot of chances and should have been out of sight after 25 minutes. Their keeper made two great saves.

Going 1-0 down was harsh on us but we stuck at it and never stopped. We should have taken something away from here.”

Whilst Bowyer remains in the job, he’ll no doubt be feeling the pressure even more. After all, rumours of this nature don’t usually appear when the team is winning games. Next up, his side entertain local rivals Bolton Wanderers on Friday night, where both sides are searching for their first wins of the season.
