Preston suffered their first loss of the season today at home against Ipswich.
It wasn’t for want of trying – the opening goal (which went the visitor’s way) was against the run of play, with Pitman heading into the back of the net to put Ipswich ahead, despite PNE’s dominance up to that point.
Daniel Johnson hit back though after a great ball from Humphrey and again the scores were level. However, come the 65th minute, the Tractor Boys were ahead again. This time it was Fraser with the goal, finding the top corner with a superb strike from 25 yards out.
In the end, it came down to taking chances. The Lilywhites played well and ended the game having had 16 shots. The difference was that they couldn’t make the most of them. Ipswich had just four shots all game but in the end, they made the most of their chances and came away with three points.
It wasn’t a bad display from the home side by all means. Most players were superb and they managed to create a lot of chances against a side that will be battling for promotion this season.
But, in the end, it just wasn’t the Lilywhites day.
So then: what do PNE fans think of today’s performance? I took to Twitter to find out.
#pnefc Good first half performance but faded drastically after half time. Ipswich goal well taken but not closed down & could pick his spot.

Good performance today, fine margins in this league. Second goal for them was decent to be fair. Unlucky with injuries today. #pnefc

Unlucky with injuries indeed – not only was today the first time Beckford featured for Preston since his move due to injury but Will Keane also missed the match after picking up a knock, while Greg Cunningham had to be subbed off after going down injured during the game!
Onto some of the players – how did they feel about the result?
Strong team performance today , gutted with the result tho , we at least deserved a point , onto the next one now .. #pnefc

Thought the boys put in a great shift 2day. We need to be better in the final third but all in all a good start and something to build on.👍🏾

Preston’s next game is against Watford in the Capital One Cup. As for Ipswich, their next game is also in the cup against Doncaster.
