Andre Gray set for Burnley medical

Brentford striker Andre Gray is reportedly set for a medical at Championship rivals Burnley, according to Sky Sports News.

The 24-year-old has attracted a lot of interest this summer after a fantastic Championship debut season during the 2014/15 campaign. In 50 appearances for Brentford, Gray found the net on 18 occasions and helped out with 8 assists. He has also found himself on the score sheet twice this season, including a goal in Brentford’s 4-2 victory against Bristol City.

Bristol City were the last team before Burnley to have a bid accepted for Gray, but the forward decided that he didn’t want to move to that club and was holding out for a move to Hull, who had previously seen three bids rejected by Brentford.

Hull then dropped their interest in Gray and this prompted Burnley to jump in and match Brentford’s valuation of the player. The forward has now travelled to Burnley ahead of a medical and should make the move today which will put an end to the whole saga of where he is moving this summer.

If Gray is registered before today’s weekend player registration deadline, the striker could make his debut for Burnley tomorrow, who’s opponents are Gray’s current club Brentford.

Another team watching this transfer with great interest with be Luton Town. Luton sold Gray to Brentford for a fee of £500,000 at the end of the 2012/13 season and they will receive 20% of any fee that the striker is sold-on for.
