Bolton trial for former Almeria left back, Casado

Bolton Wanderers have handed a trial to former Almeria left back Jose Manuel Casado, according to Burnden Aces.

The left back is currently a free agent after his contract at Liga Adelante side Almeria expired.

Casado joined Almeria in January and went on to make 8 appearances in La Liga as he prepared for a relagation battle which the club ultimately lost. Prior to this he had been on the books of Malaga but struggled for games only playing 2 times in the league since 2013.

The 29-year old enjoyed his most fruitful spell with Rayo Vallecano appearing just shy of 100 times in Liga Adelante and La Liga after joining from Sevilla in 2010.

Wanderers boss Neil Lennon wants to assess Casado closely after an injury to the only senior left back Dean Moxey and admitted he may be forced to hand him a short term deal.

Lennon said: “We don’t have a senior left back at the moment to cover but we are aware of it and we’ve looked at other players. We do need cover. We do need another player in.

“I’ve had Jose in for a week on trial and it’s not ideal but the financial situation is tight at the minute and we’re going to have to work some deals.”

The Trotters are awaiting results on a scan for Dean Moxey but Lennon may decide to take a punt on the Spanish left back if he impresses.
