MATCH PREVIEW: Humes wants improvements with end product ahead of Fleetwood challenge

Colchester United’s boss Tony Humes will be looking for his team to add an end product to attacking play when they travel to Fleetwood this weekend in the Sky Bet League One.

When speaking about what he would want to improve on after the early league fixtures, he said “Just a bit of end product, really. We’ve had to keep those performances going, and take those chances when it matters.”

Last time out, Fleetwood picked up the first three points of their 2015/16 Sky Bet League One campaign with a thrilling victory over Bury at Gigg Lane. They took the lead, just four minutes in, through Leon Clarke before Town equalised just after 15 minutes when Conor McLaughlin headed past Christopher Walton from a corner. Tom Soares gave Bury the advantage as he was on hand to convert Chris Hussey’s cross. The Cod Army pulled themselves back into the game just before the half hour mark when Tyler Forbes hammered Amari’I Bell’s cross. Jamie Procted gave Fleetwood the lead on 68 minutes before Antoni Sarcevic stepped up to increase the advantage from the penalty spot.

Colchester United meanwhile shared the points in a 0-0 draw with Oldham Athletic at the Weston Homes Community Stadium. In an extremely level match, it was not fair for either side to take all of the points and with no team having a real clear cut chance, the game ended 0-0 with Colchester picking up their second point of the season.

Previous Meetings:

The last time the two sides met was last season when the U’s won 3-2 at Fleetwood on the 25th of April 2015. The two sides have only met twice and those meetings were both last season with the U’s doing the league double, winning 3-2 away and 2-1 at the WHCS.

Key Quotes:
