Brentford’s Andre Gray turns down Bristol City move

Brentford striker Andre Gray has turned down a move to Bristol City and is holding out for a move to join Hull City, the Hull Daily Mail reports.

The 24-year-old enjoyed a successful debut season in the Championship during the 2014/15 campaign. In 50 appearances for Brentford, Gray found the net on 18 occasions and helped out with 8 assists. He has also found himself on the score sheet twice this season, including a goal in Brentford’s 4-2 victory against Bristol City.

Gray looked to be on the way to Bristol after a £9 million bid was accepted earlier this week by his current club. Despite a fee being agreed between the two clubs, the forward is reluctant to make the move and is holding out for a deal with recently-relegated Hull City.

Hull have been interested in the striker this summer and have seen three bids rejected by Brentford, the last bid being around the £6 million mark. The Tigers have also signed Gray’s Brentford team-mate Moses Odubajo who joined for a fee of £3.5 million.

Speaking after his side’s 2-1 victory against Fulham on Wednesday night, Hull boss Steve Bruce discussed the Andre Gray rumours by saying “No. It’s quite plain that we’ve got to meet their valuation. At the moment we can’t.

“We’ve known for long enough now how much it’s going to cost. We haven’t been prepared to meet Brentford’s valuation. Bristol have and if we’re going to revisit it, you’re asking the wrong person.”

Another team watching this transfer with great interest with be Luton Town. Luton sold Gray to Brentford for a fee of £500,000 at the end of the 2012/13 season and they will receive 20% of any fee that the striker is sold-on for.
