Portuguese striker, Vaz Te, training with Bury

Ex-West Ham and Bolton Wanderers striker Ricardo Vaz Te is training with Bury, reports the Bury Times.

Bury manager Dave Flitcroft has revealed that Ricardo Vaz Te is training with the League One newcomers.

Vaz Te had played under Flitcroft when he was in charge of Barnsley. The 28-year old had scored 12 goals in 24 appearances in the 2011/12 Championship season before a £400k move to West Ham in January 2012 where he would be part of the promotion squad where he would score 12 in 18 games. This would include the winning goal in the play-off final.

However, on his return to the Premier League he struggled to find the net with 3 goals in 24 Premier League appearances in 2012/13.

The Portuguese striker was renowned for his injury problems from his time at Bolton Wanderers and this curse would follow him to West Ham where he would struggle with arm and hamstring injuries in he next campaign limiting him to only 8 Premier League appearances with 2 goals.

After these troubles he would fall out of the first team picture and Sam Allardyce would ship him out in January. For the remainder of the season he would ply his trade in Turkey for Super Lig side Akhisarspor before being released in July after only 5 goals in 14 appearances.

Dave Flitcroft has insisted that he is just doing a favour for a player who had such a fruitful spell with him before but who knows whether he will take a punt on what was once a very good talent.
